# Ear Lab: Model Information and Credits Outer and middle ear: original authored teaching geometry, checked against NIDCD and UTHealth anatomy. The outer ear has a continuous folded auricle, conchal opening, helix/branching antihelix, tragus/antitragus/lobule and curved canal. Middle structures are enlarged for instructional visibility. The conical eardrum has an anchored annulus and a moving umbo attached to the malleus. Malleus, incus and open stapes articulate through shared rigid-link/piston contacts. This is a teaching mechanism, not a measured biomechanical model. Inner ear: selected IE-Map atlas surfaces, not a scan of an entire ear and not an osseous capsule. MRI cochlear fluid-space boundary and separately segmented scalae; registered vestibular duct, ampulla, common/simple crus and utricle surfaces. Their relative positions and shapes use one shared rigid axis remapping and uniform scale. Registered duct/ampulla/crus/utricle surfaces and the route source derive from David R, Stoessel A, Berthoz A, Spoor F, Bennequin D (2016), *Assessing morphology and function of the semicircular duct system: introducing new in-situ visualization and software toolbox*. Scientific Reports 6, 32772. https://doi.org/10.1038/srep32772 . CC BY 4.0. Ahmadi et al. registered/deformed these to IE-Map coordinates; this teaching adaptation retains their common registration. Adaptations: selective mesh extraction; original vertex/face connectivity retained, indexed delivery arrays, 0.0001 teaching-unit vertex quantization, recomputed normals, RAS→[-R,S,A] rotation and uniform 0.17 teaching scale plus translation, educational colors, camera-facing cochlear section openings, semantic picking groups and enlarged process overlays. No separate mesh normalization, atlas volume, embedded third-party viewer or author endorsement is implied. The gold basal→apical ribbon is a source-registered educational process route, not a segmented basilar membrane. MRI scalae do not resolve the entire apical turn; the registered cochlear duct supplies its continuation. The displayed path stops inside the apical region before the narrow boundary tip. Ribbon width, displacement and marker radius use a measured clearance envelope against the delivered mesh. Response displacement/marker size is enlarged. The receptor view is a separately magnified schematic organ-of-Corti context, linked to this cochlear location. It is not at whole-ear scale. The auditory/vestibular neural routes are abbreviated context.
